Typical ADHD responses are not intentional misbehaviour; they reflect challenges with executive functioning and self-regulation. Many children and young people with ADHD find this challenging — not because they are “difficult,” but because their brain prefers predictability and struggles with mental shifts. This is not laziness—ADHD is a brain-based difficulty with activation and motivation. Cognitive skills are learned, not automatic. They improve and are strengthened with the right supports.

The ADHD Coach provides the supports that help the child/young person improve and strengthen cognitive skills. The ADHD Coach is assigned to the child/young person to provide practical, skills-based instruction and support to help the child/young person learn and practice the cognitive skills. ADHD Coach sessions occur once or twice per week. The ADHD Coach is certified and has significant experience working with children/young people with ADHD.
The ADHD Coach works with the child/young person stakeholders including carers and parents for cognitive skills development tuition and where appropriate
effective collaborative problem-solving for identified problems. Where required the ADHD Coach provides mentoring services in union with the ADHD Coach service.
